Feng Shui has been practiced in China for over 3,000 years. Hong Kong, one of the world's richest cities, is built according to Feng Shui principles. Today Feng Shui is becoming more and more popular in Western households and businesses. Increasingly, developers and retailers are using it to maximize customer satisfaction and return on investment. This environmental art and science sees the world as completely alive with all things. The buildings, streets, land and furnishings are connected in a dynamic relationship that influences all we experience. The growing popularity of Feng Shui is the result of its extraordinary effects on people, including improved health, rewarding relationships and a measureable increase in happiness and prosperity.

• When you are buying/renting an existing home or business location.
• When you are selling a building, or a piece of land.
• When you want to increase your prosperity, enhance your relationships, boost your health, or upgrade your life in any way.
• When your life has changed in some important way since you moved into your current home or office, such as the birth of a child, or a divorce.
• When you'd like to simply bless the building you live or work in and be happier!

Rearrange Your Garden for Harmony and Good Luck
~ Feng Shui Tips for Outdoor Living ~According to feng shui, the ancient Chinese art of placement of objects and furnishings, the flow of energy (or chi) through an environment such as a home or garden, has either a positive or negative effect on the owner's health and well-being. Modern feng shui advocates say that business success, marital bliss and even fame can be achieved by proper furniture placement in the home and balanced landscape design in the garden. When it’s done right, the owner feels content and energized.
A feng shui practitioner helps people harness and properly use chi, the "life force" central to feng shui principles. The three elements needed to ideally create good chi in a garden are mountains, water, and plants. Mountains may be symbolically represented by raised planting beds or tall trees and shrubbery. Water, which symbolizes wealth, may be represented by streams, ponds or fountains – or even a river of stones placed in a meandering design.
Balance is also a key factor in feng shui. The elements of mountains, water and plants should be placed fairly close to one another to create balance. Sharp items are never a good idea and can direct sharp chi at passersby and create tension and stress. Circular pathways in the garden are preferred to straight paths, as a straight walkway creates fast-moving chi, which may cause feelings of discomfort.
Be careful not to plant trees directly in front of entry doors. Anything placed here can block the vital chi from entering the building and cause misfortune to the inhabitants. I had a client in California whose business was unfortunately located in a building with a tree planted directly in front of the entrance. Their business suffered and upon investigation, the prior resident of that space went bankrupt.
Try planting a multi-layered garden that will encourage the flow of chi. Varying heights of trees and other plants create interest and also will allow for better access when pruning plants or cutting flowers. Curves in the garden also improve the flow of chi and create a pleasing design.
Just as the bagua map is used inside the home, various areas of the garden relate to specific areas of life. For instance, the far-left corner of the garden represents wealth. You could plant purple, red or blue flowers in this area. Placing them in silver or gold pots (the color of coins) could further enhance your wealth.
The rear center of the garden represents fame and reputation. Place an archway here and it will beckon chi to enter your life, bestow fame, and enhance your reputation. The far-right corner of the garden represents love and marriage and could be enhanced with pink, red and/or white flowers.
Bring the water element in with a bird bath or a fountain. Attracting birds by adding a birdfeeder to any area of the yard also calls in healthy chi. Another idea is to hang a wind chime or windsock. Any object that catches your eye also catches the chi.
Do you have an area that seems quiet, or where you’d like to spend time communing with nature? Install a colorful gazing ball. If you have an over-abundance of wood (trees, plants, wood deck), add something metal to symbolically cut the wood. Place a round or white patio table on that wood deck and that will do the trick. For more information, please email me!
